May 20th - Friday nights action was rained out this past weekend as we were on our way to the Kankakee County Speedway. The night off let the team button up a few loose ends before heading to Fairbury on Saturday night.
Coming off of last weeks win, I was trying not to put any excessive pressure on myself to perform. I qualified 8th best of the 31 UMP Modifieds, but the invert wheel landed on 4 which started me in the 2nd row instead of on the front row outside for the heat. I had a dandy of a battle with Dave Porth and Steven Brooks for 2nd most the race. I finally cleared both of them and then took to the high side to edge Travis Kohler for the win. Going back to my time compared to the other heat winners, I would again sit on the pole for the 20 lap, $600 main prize.
The car was great again and I led all 20 laps to claim back to back features at Fairbury for the first time in my career. I could not have scripted a better start to the season at Fairbury. I can't thank my crew, family, friends, fans, and sponsors enough for all your support.
Next weekend I will be racing at Kankakee, IL on Friday night and Fairbury on Saturday night. However, let's not forget it's Memorial Day Weekend and please keep in your hearts all the men and women who died while serving our great nation.
