The first two month of 2009 have been inconstant so far as we have not had a good handle on the the racing surface. We are competitive everywhere we unload, but only once did we have a car good enough to win a feature. This was at Fairbury three weeks ago when I finished 2nd behind defending UMP national champion Jeff Leka. To say that we haven't had any success in 2009 is unfair. In fact, besides missing one feature at Fairbury, top 10's are a given and early in the 2009 points chase I sit 44th nationally and 5th in the region.
Our schedule will be changing as frequently as possible. For the short term, we will stick with running Farmer City on Friday nights in hopes that the track prep crew can figure out a balance of water to have a smooth track. Saturday night it'll be Fairbury no doubt as the track, other than a couple early nights, as been smooth and racy.
We look forward to the UMP Summer National Tour. Although this is a tour for the UMP Latemodel Division, we plan to run 10 of the shows including a 5 Day marathon in early July.
Don't forget to stop by the hauler any night to pickup your racing T-Shirts or Sweatshirts. I limited quality and sizes are still available. We also just received the 2009 stickers. You can purchase this at anytime also.
Thanks again to all of my sponsors, especially Pontiac RV, Longhorn Smokehouse, Pro Tire and Automotive, Mike Vallow Race Cars, Friedman Racing Engines, Coreco Enterprises, Brandt Tuning, DMI Technology Group, Augie, Dick and Dave Schofield, Aaron Disc Sharpening, Grandma & Grandpa Wharton, Mom, Dave Wenger Transportation and Aftershock Graphics. Without these people, our program would not be where it is today.
See you at the track this weekend! Be Safe!
