Weather played a huge part in the weekend activities this past weekend. We decided to stay local instead of making the 9 hour trip to Smokey Mountain Speedway for the American Modified Series race. I turned out that the AMS race got cancelled. Friday night at LaSalle it was beyond cold and the cold and wet winter played havoc with the racetrack. 37 UMP Modifieds took to the track. I qualified 3rd in my group which started me on the pole of the heat race due to the invert. It was a battle, but I won my heat race and re-drew outside front row for the feature. I jumped to the early lead, but was unable to hold on through the rough track conditions. I finished a respectable 4th place.
This week will be a lot of shop work going through the entire car to make sure nothing was bent or broken. Next weekend we'll either be at the Farmer City Speedway for the Illini 100 or making the trip to Knoxville, TN for the AMS Smokey Mountain Speedway make-up event.
